SMS technology has been around for a long time now. We had a problem, and needed a solution to extract text messages from a computer to a database. After searching we discovered there wasn't a solution available to purchase - we wrote one.
The Problem
The software "Mobile Partner" by the telecommunications company Huawei is a very common application. It is included on many USB Modem devices, and that is what we were using.
We needed the incoming SMSs placed in to a MySQL database instead of the "Mobile Partner" database. We needed to export the SMS messages for Mobile Partner, and it had to be simple and customizable.
The Solution: ExtractSMSDB
Until now, ExtractSMSDB has not been available to the public. It is now finally released, so that you can export your incoming messages to a CSV file, where you can then manipulate the data as you wish, and import them to a secondary system.
Not only is Mobile Partner commonly being used around the world to read SMSs, but once exported from this database as a CSV file, it can then be loaded in to a Gammu compatible database, rather than having to fight with Gammu settings on a Windows install. (Which we struggled to have sucess with.)
Workflow example:
Mobile Partner -> CSV -> Third Party Application
This software is command-line driven and is simple to run.
There are 2 versions included in the download; a x64 and an x86. Just choose which version you need to run.
It has been tested to run on: Vista x64, Windows 7 x64 and Windows 8.1 x64 and Windows XP x86. Windows 10 has not been tested.
It looks like this when it runs.
It's well priced at only $40 USD (special introductory price) On Sale! 50% off!. It'll be updated as required in the future for new features or bug fixes.
Before you download and pay for this program, please confirm that you have a Mobile Partner database file (SmsDBConnection.), to avoid any confusion.

Help:
The default data location of the Mobile Partner database is:
XP: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Mobile Partner\userdata\SmsDBConnection.
Vista, 7, 8: C:\Users\All Users\Mobile Partner\userdata\SmsDBConnection.
A sample settings.ini file
[AppSettings]
extracted=sms.csv
source=SmsDBConnection.
records=100
For a Windows 7, the following example would work.
[AppSettings]
extracted=sms.csv
source=C:\Users\All Users\Mobile Partner\userdata\SmsDBConnection.
records=100
The records field can be adjusted as required.
Recommended Usage:
The way to get the most out of this software (if you are running with a 3rd party application) is to put it on a Windows schedule task, or similar, so that the results can be used in close to real time. We have used this in batch files, to extract, and then continue a process to import the messages in to a text message web interface.
Requirements:
Microsoft.NET 3.5
Visual #C Libraries
A Mobile Partner DB. For this, you'll need to be running a version of Mobile Partner.
This software can be found here, however it will usually come pre-loaded on your USB modem.
A compatible USB Modem
* ExtractSMSDB uses run-time files from here. The program is currently compiled for the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1.
Basically, if you are running Windows, and a Huawei USB modem, you should be right for this software to work.
While every effort has been made to make this compatible, please remember that not every version of software, or operating system checking is not possible. ExtractSMSDB was tested successfully on Mobile Partner 23.009, and is running in multiple radio stations in the Pacific region, in Papua New Guinea and Samoa.
Mobile Partner seems to have limits on the amount of records in stores in it's database, of a few months to just over 700 SMS records. This is only hearsay and has only been noted from observation. ExtractSMSDB ignores the folders that SMSs are stored in the Mobile Partner database, and just extracts the first X amount of text messages that are specified, sorted by the most recently added SMSs shown first.
