We are proud to introduce something new for StationPlaylist users to run it over a network - as a value add-on that will make monitoring very easy.
Developed with a need to view the studio computer without having to log in via VNC or use the SPL Monitor program, pisk-lite is almost like having the StationPlaylist in your web browser.
Actually, it basically is SPL in a web browser, and it gives basic control over the airplay.
You can Stop, Start, Play Next, Pause and Play, and turn the automation on or off, and you can see the playlist logs of the station - as to what has or hasn't played yet.
Â
 Requirements:
- A licensed working copy of StationPlaylist Studio Pro that is connected to an internal network. Version 5.10+ has been tested
- A computer that can host a light web server (preferably the SPL computer), this can be XAMMP or MAMP that can support PHP.
It's very easy to setup, and provided you have installed SPL to the default locations, you shouldn't have any problems with the configuration process.

Most people probably won't need this, however depending on how you operate your radio station, this could be invaluable. Your co-host could sit opposite you have have this displayed on their own screen, and know exactly what is coming up next as well as look at the look, past and present. You as the station manager could have this running and need know what's coming up without having to log in via VNC or disturb the announcer on air, or be able to skip something immediately that is on air. You could also run it on a screen in a different room just to monitor the station.
It's not for most, but it is finally available.
A pisk-lite license is per station.
Please note: You are buying source code. You are not getting a program that has already been compiled. As such, you must be a fairly competent computer operator. If you make modifications or new features to the code, it's requested that you submit them. You are not permitted to resell, give-away, lend or distribute any of the pisk-lite or pisk software. Basically, please don't steal from me, I have to eat and pay rent. If you have any suggestions, please, send them through.
FAQ
How come the listen play button doesn't work?
There could be several reasons. You need to set up a streaming service of your station. This could be either an offsite one, or just an internal one using a ShoutCast service. Changing the URL to a different IP other than the one the pisk-lite site is being served from will cause browser security issues, and fail to work.
Different browsers also behave differently as well, so what may work in Chrome on Windows, may not work in Safari on Mac. It depends on how the audio server is set up.
The audio stream player is only if you have a Shout Cast server running locally or similar. For some reason, Shoutcast are pushing everyone to their new software which publicly pushes your feed to their servers, however their older software doesn't. You can get the older version here:
Shoutcast Download
Can I adjust the playlists with this version?
Not yet. However, this in the pipeline and there is a working version in the dev house. It's soon to be released.
There is no login or security on this? How come?
This is currently designed to be used inside a safe internal network. It is not designed to be used over the internet. Do NOT use it over the internet. For full remote control over the internet, consider using a service such as TeamViewer.
Does this use MySQL?
No, this program reads the web sockets results from StationPlaylist for control and the now playing data, and reads the M3U Playlist files from the StationPlaylist directory get the hourly lists of files.
Is this all there is?
At this stage yes. However there are plans for a version of pisk with many more features in the future, hence, this is pisk-lite.
Why aren't the times exactly correct on the playlists?
These are only a guide, as per the times in SPL are. As we are only reading the M3U playlist files, we are only estimating what the time is going to be for when they are played. So if you are using the software live, then the purple bar showing what the player is up to, will be way out. It's more of a guide, rather than an exact indicator.
Is this official StationPlaylist software?
No. This software has been written completely independent of the StationPlaylist code. We just read the documentation and connected in to the hooks and other areas where possible to make a new product. We kind of like it that way too. We only resell SPL as a supplementary income and are otherwise not associated with StationPlaylist.
Why don't the times on the Now Playing lines match the entries on the hourly playlists?
This is because it's the calculated value that SPL gives, after it reads the trim markers, of in and out points. This information is not calculated in the playlist window.
Sometimes at the bottom of the list, the colours go back to grey?
As the default colour of what song may have played (guessed) is purple, sometimes when an hour is overfilled, pisk-lite will not colour those songs which are deemed as overfilling the hour.
It's playing songs, but they are not on the playlist?
Assuming the playlists have existed for that hour in the first place, this is probably happening because the songs playing are top up tracks, or have been inserted by the SPL operator. As SPL uses M3U files it doesn't automatically save those files when it modifies the playlist, and therefore changes won't flow through to pisk-lite. To make the changes show in pisk-lite, you must save the file in SPL. You will find this in SPL under "File", "Save Playlist". Then, reload the desired hour in pisk-lite.
I make changes to the playlist in pisk-lite but it takes a long for the changes to play?
pisk-lite modifies the M3U files that SPL uses to play the songs from. Firstly, you must enable SPL to reload playlist files, but SPL doesn't reload these files quickly. SPL takes about a 10 seconds before it reloads any changes, thus causing a delay in the reflected changes.
